Hadith 9912

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قََالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرَاهِيجَ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَعْنِي اللَّهَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " الصَّوْمُ هُوَ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ، وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said, "Fasting is exclusively for Me and I Myself will give its reward. The breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk."
