Hadith 9904

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قََالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَالِمًا الْبَرَّادَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ تَبِعَ جَنَازَةً فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا أَوْ قَالَ : مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا ، شُعْبَةُ شَكَّ فَلَهُ قِيرَاط ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ ، الْقِيرَاطُ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer for someone will receive a reward equal to one qirat, and whoever waits until the burial is completed will receive a reward equal to two qirats, and each qirat will be equal to the mountain of Uhud.
