Hadith 9899

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَر ، قََالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَة ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْعَلاء يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ ، وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَتِه " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person should bid against his brother's bid, and no person should send a marriage proposal over his brother's marriage proposal.
