حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ الْأُكْلَةُ وَالْأُكْلَتَان ، وَاللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ ، أَوِ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ ، شُعْبَةُ شَكَّ فِي اللُّقْمَةِ وَالتَّمْرَة ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ ، وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " أَوْ " يَسْتَحِي أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " .
It is narrated with the same chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The needy is not the one who is turned away with one or two dates or one or two morsels; the real needy is the one who does not have financial means himself and does not go around asking others persistently.
