Hadith 9876

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ ، عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ بِالشَّيْءِ ، مَا يُحِبُّ أَنَّهُ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ ، وَإِنَّ لَهُ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ، قَالَ : " ذَاكَ مَحْضُ الْإِيمَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the presence of the Prophet and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), such thoughts and whispers come to my heart that I would prefer to fall from the sky rather than utter them with my tongue (what should I do?)" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is clear faith."
