Hadith 962

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَخْطُبُ ، وَعَلَيْهِ سَيْفٌ حِلْيَتُهُ حَدِيدٌ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : وَاللَّهِ " مَا عِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ نَقْرَؤُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَهَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةَ ، أَعْطَانِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فِيهَا فَرَائِضُ الصَّدَقَةِ " ، قَالَ : لِصَحِيفَةٍ مُعَلَّقَةٍ بسَيْفِهِ .
Tariq bin Shihab says that I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying on the pulpit: By Allah! We have no book that we read except the Noble Qur’an, or this scroll which is hanging from the sword that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave to me. In it is detailed the shares of Zakat. The mentioned scroll used to hang from the sword of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), whose rings were made of iron.
