(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : " أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحُلَّةِ حَرِيرٍ ، فَبَعَثَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ فَلَبِسْتُهَا ، فَرَأَيْتُ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، فَأَمَرَنِي فَأَطَرْتُهَا خُمُرًا بَيْنَ النِّسَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a silk garment was sent as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent it to me. I wore it, but when I saw signs of displeasure on the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I distributed it among my women as head coverings.
