Hadith 9556

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Fast upon sighting the moon and celebrate Eid upon sighting the moon. If the moon is not visible and the sky is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty."
