Hadith 9493

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا فَإِنَّهُ يُنْقِصُ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطًا ، إِلَّا كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever keeps a dog for purposes other than hunting or guarding fields or herds, then his reward will decrease by one qirat every day.
