Hadith 9373

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : تَضَيَّفْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ سَبْعًا ، قَالَ : وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " قَسَمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ تَمْرًا ، فَأَصَابَنِي سَبْعُ تَمَرَاتٍ ، إِحْدَاهُنَّ حَشَفَةٌ ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْءٌ أَعْجَبَ إِلَيَّ مِنْهَا ، شَدَّتْ مَضَاغِي " .
Abu Uthman Nahdi, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I stayed as a guest with Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, for seven days. I heard Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, saying that once the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, distributed some dates among his companions, may Allah be pleased with them. I received seven dates, one of which was spoiled. In my view, it was the best among them all, as I had to chew it with difficulty (and my gums and teeth were moving).
