Hadith 9366

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : قَاسِمُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ أَخْبَرَنِيهِ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا رَافِعٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي الْقِبْلَةِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ يَقُولُ مَرَّةً : فَحَتَّهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ قَالَ : قُمْتُ فَحَتَّيْتُهَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا كَانَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ أَنْ يُتَنَخَّعَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، أَوْ يُبْزَقَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَبْزُقَنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ , قَالَ : بِثَوْبِهِ هَكَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He saw phlegm stuck towards the Qibla in the mosque, so he turned towards the people and said: What is the matter with one of you that he stands facing his Lord and then spits as well? Would any one of you like that a man stands facing him and spits on his face? When any one of you wants to spit, he should spit to his left or towards his foot, and if there is no opportunity for that, then he should spit in his garment in this way.
