Hadith 9343

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَجُلٌ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونِي ، وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ فَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ ، وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم : " إِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ لَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمْ الْمَلَّ ، وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ، مَا دُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated with the previous chain that a man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have some relatives with whom I maintain ties of kinship, but they sever relations with me. I treat them well, but they treat me badly. I am patient with them, but they behave ignorantly towards me." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "If the reality is as you have described, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and as long as you remain steadfast in your conduct, there will be a helper from Allah with you."
