Hadith 926

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَامَ عَلِيٌّ ، فَقَالَ : " خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ ، وَإِنَّا قَدْ أَحْدَثْنَا بَعْدَهُمْ أَحْدَاثًا يَقْضِي اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِيهَا مَا شَاءَ " .
On one occasion, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: In this Ummah, after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the best person is Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him). After them, we have invented things in which Allah will decide as He wills.
