Hadith 922

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، أَنْبَأَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا ؟ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَخَيْرُهَا بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عُمَرُ ، ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ أَحَبَّ " .
On one occasion, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I not tell you who is the best person in this Ummah after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He is Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), and after Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), the best person in this Ummah is Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). After that, Allah creates love wherever He wills.
