Hadith 8805

حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَأْخُذَ أُمَّتِي بِمَأْخَذِ الْأُمَمِ وَالْقُرُونِ قَبْلَهَا ، شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَمَا فَعَلَتْ فَارِسُ وَالرُّومُ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَهَلْ النَّاسُ إِلَّا أُولَئِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Day of Judgment will not be established until my Ummah becomes involved in the deeds of the previous nations, span by span and cubit by cubit. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), like the people of Persia and Rome did? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then who else besides them were among the previous people?
