Hadith 8803

حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْءَمَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَلَسَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مِنْ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : بَرْبَرِيٌّ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قُمْ عَنِّي " قَالَ : بِمِرْفَقِهِ هَكَذَا ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ عَنْهُ ، أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Where are you from?" He replied, "I am a Barbarian." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Get up from my presence." When he left, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Faith will not go below the throats of these people."
