Hadith 8792

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيَدَعَنَّ النَّاسُ فَخْرَهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، أَوْ لَيَكُونَنَّ أَبْغَضَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنَ الْخَنَافِسِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People should stop boasting about their ancestors, otherwise in the sight of Allah they will be more insignificant than a dung beetle.
