Hadith 8588

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَسْوَدِ ، يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَوْلَى شَدَّاد ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " مَنْ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَنْشُدُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ضَالَّة ، فَلْيَقُلْ لَهُ لَا أَدَّاهَا اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ، فَإِنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لَمْ تُبْنَ لِهَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Whoever hears a person announcing a lost item in the mosque, he should say to him, "May Allah not return it to you," because mosques have not been built for such announcements.
