Hadith 8562

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَبَوَاهُ اللَّذَانِ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أو َيُنَصِّرَانِهِ ، كَمَا تُنْتِجُونَ أَنْعَامَكُمْ ، هَلْ تَكُونُ فِيهَا جَدْعَاءُ ؟ حَتَّى تَكُونُوا أَنْتُمْ تَجْدَعُونَهَا " ، قَالَ رَجُلٌ : فَأَيْنَ هُمْ ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ " ، قَالَ قَيْسٌ : مَا أَرَى ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ إِلَّا كَانَ قَدَرِيًّا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child is born upon the natural disposition (fitrah), then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian. Its example is like the animal born among you—do you find any defect in it? Later, you yourselves cut its nose. A man asked: Where will these children be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah knows best what they would have done when they grew up.
