Hadith 856

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ هَانِئِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً ، فَإِذَا أَمْذَيْتُ اغْتَسَلْتُ ، فَأَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ ، فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَضَحِكَ ، وَقَالَ " فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that madhiy (pre-seminal fluid) would be discharged from my body in abundance. When this happened, I would perform ghusl (ritual bath). Then I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him), so he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about its ruling. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said: "In this case, only wudu (ablution) is required."
