Hadith 8507

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَن ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْمَفْرُوضَةِ صَلَاةٌ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ ، وَأَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الْمُحَرَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: After the obligatory prayers, the most virtuous prayer is the one performed in the middle part of the night, and after the fasts of Ramadan, the most virtuous fast is that of Allah’s month which you call Muharram.
