Hadith 8481

حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ إِلَّا حَقًّا " ، قَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ : فَإِنَّكَ تُدَاعِبُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ! فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ إِلَّا حَقًّا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I always speak the truth. A companion submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do you also joke with us?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Even in jest, I always speak the truth.
