Hadith 8470

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ تَوَضَّأُ إِلَى جَنْبِ قَصْرٍ ، فَقُلْتُ لِمَنْ هَذَا الْقَصْرُ ؟ قَالُوا : لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَذَكَرْتُ غَيْرَتَكَ فَوَلَّيْتُ مُدْبِرًا " ، وَعُمَرُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ حِينَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَهُ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ ، فَبَكَى عُمَرُ حِينَ سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : أَعَلَيْكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ أَغَارُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One day I saw myself in Paradise in a dream. There, a woman was performing ablution beside a palace. I asked, "Whose palace is this?" People replied, "It belongs to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)." I remembered your sense of honor and turned back. At the time when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) was also sitting among the people. Upon hearing this, he began to weep and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), may my parents be sacrificed for you! Would I ever feel jealous of you?"
