Hadith 847

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِزَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ جَوَّابٍ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ يَعْنِي التَّيْمِيَّ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَجُلًا مَذَّاءً ، فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِذَا خَذَفْتَ فَاغْتَسِلْ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ ، وَإِذَا لَمْ تَكُنْ خاذِفًا فَلَا تَغْتَسِلْ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that I used to suffer frequently from the discharge of madhiy (pre-seminal fluid). I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about it, so he (peace be upon him) said: "If semen is discharged, then perform ghusl just as you do in the case of janabah (major ritual impurity), and if it is not so, then there is no need to perform ghusl."
