Hadith 8468

حَدَّثَنَا فَزَارَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ فِيمَا مَضَى قَبْلَكُمْ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ نَاسٌ يُحَدَّثُونَ ، وَإِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ فِي أُمَّتِي هَذِهِ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ، فَإِنَّهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the previous nations, there used to be some people who were Muhaddath (inspired by Allah). If there is any such person in my Ummah, it is Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
