(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ الْأَعْوَرِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ كُنْتُ مُؤَمِّرًا أَحَدًا مِنْ أُمَّتِي مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ ، لَأَمَّرْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to appoint anyone as a leader without consulting the Muslims, I would appoint Ibn Umm Abd, that is, Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)."
