Hadith 8444

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمٌ أَبُو جُمَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ عُطَارِدًا التَّمِيمِيَّ كَانَ يُقِيمُ حُلَّةَ حَرِيرٍ ، فَلَوْ اشْتَرَيْتَهَا فَلَبِسْتَهَا إِذَا جَاءَكَ وُفُودُ النَّاسِ . فَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the court of the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah! Atarid Tamimi is standing and selling a silk garment. If you were to buy a pair, then when delegations come to you, you could also wear it?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "In this world, only that person wears silk who has no share in the Hereafter."
