وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ لَبِثْتُ فِي السِّجْنِ مَا لَبِثَ يُوسُفُ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَنِي الدَّاعِي ، لَأَجَبْتُهُ ، إِذْ جَاءَهُ الرَّسُولُ ، فَقَالَ : ارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ : مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ اللَّاتِي قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ ، إِنَّ رَبِّي بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيمٌ . وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى لُوطٍ ، إِنْ كَانَ لَيَأْوِي إِلَى رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ ، إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ : لَوْ أَنَّ لِي بِكُمْ قُوَّةً ، أَوْ آوِي إِلَى رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ ، وَمَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا فِي ثَرْوَةٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ " .
And he said that if I had remained in prison for as long as Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) had, and then I was offered release, I would have accepted it at that very moment. When the messenger reached him, he said, "Go to your master and ask him what was the matter with those women who cut their hands. My Lord is well aware of their cunning." And may Allah's mercy descend upon Prophet Lut (peace be upon him); he was seeking the support of a strong pillar when he said to his people, "If only I had the strength to oppose you, or could take refuge in a strong pillar." After them, whichever prophet Allah sent, He made him from among the wealthy people of his nation.
