Hadith 836

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : " خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَبَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، وَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِالثَّالِثِ لَفَعَلْتُ " .
It is narrated from Abu Juhaifa that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The best person in this Ummah after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), and after Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) is Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), and if I wish, I can also mention the name of the third person.
