(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ هَدِيَّةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بِمَكَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْبَجَلِيُّ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ وَهْبٍ السُّوَائِيِّ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا ؟ فَقُلْتُ : أَنْتَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، قَالَ : لَا ، " خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، ثُمَّ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، وَمَا نُبْعِدُ أَنَّ السَّكِينَةَ تَنْطِقُ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Wahb Suwai Rahimahullah that once Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said during a sermon: Who is the best person in this Ummah after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: Commander of the Faithful! It is you. He said: No, after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the best person in this Ummah is Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), and after Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), the best person is Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), and there is nothing surprising in the fact that tranquility spoke upon the tongue of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
