A man said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): I have bought this cow for sacrifice. He replied: It can be on behalf of seven people. The man said: It has no horns? He replied: There is no harm. He said: It has lameness in its leg? He replied: If it can walk by itself to the place of sacrifice, then there is no harm. Then he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to carefully examine the eyes and ears of the sacrificial animals to ensure there is no defect in them.
