Hadith 8113

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْخَضِرِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ خَضِرًا أَنَّهُ جَلَسَ عَلَى فَرْوَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ ، فَإِذَا هِيَ تَحْتَهُ تَهْتَزُّ خَضْرَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) that he is called Khidr because when he sat on a white grassy patch, it turned green and started waving beneath him.
