Hadith 811

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرَكَانِيُّ ، أخبرنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ الْحَنَّاطُ عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْلَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا أَعْيَانِي أَمْرُ الْمَذْيِ ، أَمَرْتُ الْمِقْدَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " فِيهِ الْوُضُوءُ " ، اسْتِحْيَاءً مِنْ أَجْلِ فَاطِمَةَ .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to have frequent discharge of madhy (pre-seminal fluid). Since the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in my marriage, I felt shy to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue myself. When I became unable to bear it, I asked Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue. So he asked, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Such a person should perform wudu (ablution)."
