حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَعَرَفَ صَوْتَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " ادْخُلْ " ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ سِتْرًا فِي الْحَائِطِ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ ، فَاقْطَعُوا رُؤُوسَهَا ، فَاجْعَلُوهَا بِسَاطًا أَوْ وَسَائِدَ فَأَوْطَئُوهُ ، فَإِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recognized his voice. Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) submitted, "Actually, there is a curtain in the house on which a human image is made. Now you should order that the head of this image be cut off, from which two cushions may be made, which will remain lying and be trampled upon, because we do not enter any house in which there are images."
