It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead us in prayer; sometimes he would recite aloud and sometimes silently. Therefore, we also recite aloud in those prayers in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud, and we recite silently in those prayers in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited silently. And I have heard him say that there is no prayer without recitation.
