Hadith 7548

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَيَزِيدُ ، قَالَا : أخبرنا مُحَمَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الوِصَالِ ، قَالُوا : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ! قَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ كَهَيْئَتِي ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ حِبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ " . وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ : " إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from fasting continuously for several days with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor)." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), you fast continuously in this manner." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You are not like me in this matter. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself feeds and gives me drink."
