حَدَّثَنَا
عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ
مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ
مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَمَنْ الْمِسْكِينُ ؟ قَالَ : " الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ غِنًى ، وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " .
The previous hadith from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) is also narrated through this second chain of transmission, except that in this version, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Then who is considered poor?" He replied, "The one who does not possess financial means himself and does not go around asking people persistently."
