(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى ، يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبُ ، وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ تَنْفِي النَّاسَ ، كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded to go to a town which will consume all other towns. People call it Yathrib, whereas its correct name is Madinah, and Madinah removes people's sins just as a blacksmith's furnace removes the impurities of iron.
