Hadith 713

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ ظَبْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَحْيَى ، قَالَ : لَمَّا ضَرَبَ ابْنُ مُلْجِمٍ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ الضَّرْبَةَ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : افْعَلُوا بِهِ كَمَا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَفْعَلَ بِرَجُلٍ أَرَادَ قَتْلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اقْتُلُوهُ ، ثُمَّ حَرِّقُوهُ " .
Abu Yahya says that when a wretched and wicked man named Ibn Muljam made a murderous attack on Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Treat him in the same way as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) treated the person who intended to martyr him." Then he said: "Kill him and burn his corpse."
