It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The blood money (diyah) for one killed by mistake is one hundred camels, which include 30 bint makhad, 30 bint labun, 30 hiqqah, and 10 male ibn labun camels. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set its value for city dwellers at four hundred dinars or its equivalent in silver, and the determination of the value was based on the price of camels. When the price of camels increased, he would increase the amount of diyah accordingly, and when it decreased, he would also reduce it. In the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), this value reached from four hundred dinars up to eight hundred dinars, and the equivalent price in silver reached up to eight thousand dirhams."
