(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ حُيَيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِسَعْدٍ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا السَّرَفُ يَا سَعْدُ ؟ قَالَ : أَفِي الْوُضُوءِ سَرَفٌ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ عَلَى نَهْرٍ جَارٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Sa’d while he was performing ablution. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Sa’d! What is this extravagance?” He replied, “Is there extravagance even in ablution?” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes, even if you are at a flowing river.”
