Hadith 7062

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ وَكَانَ شَاعِرًا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحَيٌّ وَالِدَاكَ ؟ " قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking permission to participate in jihad. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him, "Are your parents alive?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Then go and strive in service to them."
