Hadith 7041

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَشْيَبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ الرَّحَبِيَّ ، عَنْ حِبَّانَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ ، يَقُولُ : " ارْحَمُوا تُرْحَمُوا ، وَاغْفِرُوا يَغْفِرْ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ ، وَيْلٌ لِأَقْمَاعِ الْقَوْلِ ، وَيْلٌ لِلْمُصِرِّينَ الَّذِينَ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلُوا وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said from the pulpit: "Show mercy, you will be shown mercy; forgive, Allah will forgive you. Destruction is for those who only possess the weapon of words. Destruction is for those who knowingly persist and remain steadfast in their sins."
