It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them but they sever them. I forgive them but they wrong me. I treat them well but they treat me badly. Can I also repay them in kind?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, otherwise you will all be left alone. You should choose the side of virtue and maintain the ties of kinship with them, and as long as you continue to do so, a constant helper from Allah will remain with you."
