(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عِيسَى الرَّاسِبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ آتِيَهُ بِطَبَقٍ يَكْتُبُ فِيهِ مَا لَا تَضِلُّ أُمَّتُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ ، قَالَ : فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ تَفُوتَنِي نَفْسُهُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَحْفَظُ وَأَعِي ، قَالَ : " أُوصِي بِالصَّلَاةِ ، وَالزَّكَاةِ ، وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to bring a tablet so that he could write instructions on it, by following which the Ummah would never go astray after him. I feared that if I went to get paper, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might pass away in my absence, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please tell me verbally, I will remember it." He said: "I advise you to establish prayer and give zakat, and I also emphasize good treatment of slaves."
