(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، وَبَهْزٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ ، وَكَانَ رَجُلًا شَاعِرًا ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحَيٌّ وَالِدَاكَ ؟ " قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ " . قَالَ بَهْزٌ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking permission to participate in jihad. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked: "Are your parents alive?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then go and strive in service to them."
