Hadith 679

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْأَعْلَى يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ أَمَةً لَهُمْ زَنَتْ ، فَحَمَلَتْ ، فَأَتَى عَلِيّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " دَعْهَا حَتَّى تَلِدَ ، أَوْ تَضَعَ ، ثُمَّ اجْلِدْهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that one of his slave girls committed the sin of fornication, and due to this act, she became pregnant and the confirmation of her pregnancy was established. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about this. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Leave her until she gives birth to the child, then later administer the flogging to her.
