Hadith 6769

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ طَلَاقٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ، وَلَا عَتَاقٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ، وَلَا بَيْعٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A person does not have the right to divorce a woman whom he does not own (through marriage or purchase), nor does a person have the authority to free someone who is not his slave, nor does he have the right to sell something that does not belong to him."
