It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that once the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw two men clinging to each other while walking towards the Ka'bah. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked, "What is the meaning of walking clinging to each other like this?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah! We made a vow to walk to the Ka'bah in this manner." The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This is not a vow," and he made them stop this practice. In his narration, Suraij also says that a vow is only for that by which Allah's pleasure is sought.
