Hadith 6689

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاود بْنُ سَوَّار ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مُرُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ إِذَا بَلَغُوا سَبْعًا ، وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا إِذَا بَلَغُوا عَشْرًا ، وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ " ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قَالَ أَبِي : وَقَالَ الطُّفَاوِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ سَوَّارٌ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ ، وَأَخْطَأَ فِيهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When children reach the age of seven, command them to pray; and when they reach the age of ten, punish them for abandoning prayer, and separate their sleeping beds."
